Cowgirl Basketball Rolls In Exhibition Finale

The Cowgirls (2-0) were led in the first half offensively by juniors Whitney Pegram and Destanie Sykes. The duo combined for 29 points in the stanza on 13-of-18 shooting from the floor to give OSU a 42-25 lead at the break.
OPSU's Nina Kuleff hit a jumper at the 5:36 mark to cut the Cowgirls' lead to 28-25 before OSU held the Lady Aggies scoreless for the rest of the half, while the Cowgirls scored 14 points during that span to pull away.
The OPSU drought continued at the start of the second half as the OSU defense limited the Lady Aggies to two points over the opening 5:36 after the intermission and scored 15 points to push the lead to 57-27.
As a team, the Cowgirls shot 53 percent from the floor and had three players finish in double figures. Pegram led the way with 22 points, while Sykes finished with 21 and freshman Shaunte' Smith added 10 points.
Smith also pulled a game-high 13 rebounds and senior Catherria Turner dished out 10 assists.
OSU will begin the regular season on Nov. 19 when it plays host to Texas State at 2 p.m.
