Cowboys roll over Oklahoma Christian, 84-62

Torre Johnson scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Oklahoma State shot much better in the second half as the Cowboys defeated Oklahoma Christian 84-62 in their final exhibition game of the season Friday night here inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Johnson was unstoppable, connecting on 10-of-13 shots from the field, mostly alley-opp dunks and putbacks off of offensive boards. He was also 5-of-6 from the free-throw line, all in just 22 minutes of play.
Senior Aaron Pettway had another solid game, scoring 11 points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. The 6-10 center, in his second start in as many games, also had nine rebounds in 22 minutes.
Oklahoma State struggled early once again as the Eagles led 19-18 with 10:22 remaining in the first period. The Cowboys went on an 8-0 run to take a 26-19 lead, including slam dunks by both Johnson and freshman Roderick Flemings. A made free throw by junior David Monds with 35 seconds remaining in the half tied the game as the teams entered the lockerroom at 33-33.
OC took a three-point lead at the 16:56 mark of the second stanza on a three-point shot by Keith Harris, but OSU went on a 14-2 run over the next 3-1/2 minutes to take a 51-42 lead and the Eagles never recovered.
Sophomore JamesOn Curry added 10 points for the Cowboys, while freshman Byron Eaton started his first game and collected nine points. Monds scored nine in just 12 minutes, while Flemings chipped in eight.
A crowd of 12,765 saw OSU in its final tune-up before the regular season begins in one week. The Cowboys host Texas-Arlington on Friday, Nov. 18, at 7:05 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
