Black outlasts Orange in scrimmage, 87-80

The Black Team took an early six-point lead on a layup by freshman Byron Eaton. The Orange team evened the score at 10, however, on back-to-back baskets by Monds and a dunk by another freshman, Terrel Harris.
Black went on a 14-7 run over the next six minutes to take a 24-17 lead, including six points by freshman Kenny Cooper.
Five players scored in double figures for the Black Team, led by Cooper's 19 points. JamesOn Curry added 18 and six assists for the Black squad, while Eaton and freshman Roderick Flemings each chipped in 17.
Orange led Black at halftime, 37-35. Monds nearly had a double-double at intermission, scoring 16 points and grabbing eight boards in the first period.
Neither team led by more than five points until the 8:51 mark of the second half, when Black took a 62-56 lead on an Aaron Pettway free throw. The lead was seven 30 seconds later when freshman Keith Brumbaugh hit a three-pointer on an assist by Curry.
Harris, who had 20 points for the Orange Team, hit fastbreak layup with just under five minutes to play in the game to cut the lead to 67-65, but it was the closest Orange would get the rest of the game.
