Byrnes Beats Bohunicky for Regional Championship

Oklahoma State's Daniel Byrnes defeated teammate Tomas Bohunicky to win the 2005 Wilson/ITA Men's Central Region Championship Monday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa.
Byrnes beat Bohunicky in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, to win the championship. Bohunicky had not lost a set at the tournament entering the final match. The 49th-ranked Bohunicky is the fourth-ranked player Byrnes beat in a row on his way to the championship.
Oklahoma State was one of only two schools to have two players advance to the quarterfinals and the only school to have multiple players reach the semifinals.
By advancing to the regional finals, both players have qualified for the 2005 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, November 3-6, at Ohio State University.
