“Becky is very meticulous with her work and very, very good at what she does,” Cowgirl head coach Kurt Budke said. “She comes from a winning background and an outstanding program at Oklahoma City.”
During the course of her eight seasons of association with the OCU program, Mendez was a part of four NAIA national championship teams and three NAIA runner-up squads.
Mendez spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach at OCU where, in addition to her on-court duties, she aided in recruiting and team administration, including founding and developing the school's junior varsity program. The Stars produced national championships in 2001 and 2002 and were the national runners-up in 2003, 2004 and 2005 while she was on staff.
Mendez competed for OCU from 1996-2000 and finished her playing career as the school's all-time assist leader with 483. An All-American scholar in 2000, she served as team captain for the 1999 and 2000 squads that captured national championships and was also a member of OCU's 1998 national championship squad.
A native of Canton, Okla., the former Becky Hoskins is married to Gannon Mendez. She graduated from OCU in 2000 with a degree in physical education.
