Cowgirl Basketball Loses To Missouri In Big 12 Opener
January 06, 2005 | Cowgirl Basketball
The Cowgirls (5-6 overall, 0-1 Big 12) scored the first four points of the game, but were plagued by scoring droughts of seven and six minutes en route to a 32-10 halftime deficit. In the stanza, OSU shot just 20 percent from the floor, including an 0-8 effort from the three-point line, and did not record an assist, while the Tigers (7-5, 1-0) hit 50 percent of their shot attempts and had a pair of players with nine points apiece.
Senior Nina Stone sparked a second-half rally with 15 of her game-high 21 points after the intermission as the Cowgirls cut the deficit to 11 at 46-35 with 8:24 remaining. However, they could get no closer as Mizzou was able to knock down several key baskets and free throws down the stretch to lock up the victory.
OSU will return to action on Saturday when its hosts Texas Tech at 4 p.m. in a Fox Sports Net-televised contest.
