Cowboy Netters Down No. 26 Arizona

The Cowboys (3-0) started the match off by winning the doubles point. At the No. 1 position, OSU's Mark Van Elden and Daniel Byrnes lost to No. 18 Colin O'Grady and Roger Matalonga, 8-5.
At No. 3, Tomas Bohunicky and Artsem Burmistrau defeated Arizona's Paul Warkentin and Christen Claudio, 8-3. At the No. 2 position, the 40th-ranked pair of Boris Kuharic and Felipe Diaz held off Bruno Alcala and Daniel Andrus, 9-8, to seal the point for the Cowboys.
At No. 1 singles, 44th-ranked Van Elden defeated No. 57 Matalonga in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. The match was Matalonga's first since defeating the country's top-ranked player, Mississippi's Catalin Guard, last week.
No. 117 Kuharic got the win for the Cowboys at No. 3 singles, cruising past Alcala, 6-2, 6-2. Sophomore Artie Burmistrau continued his winning ways at the No. 4 spot, topping Warkentin, 6-2, 6-7 (10-5).
Felipe Diaz improved to 3-0 on the year at the No. 5 position, knocking off Jason Labrosse, 7-6, 6-4.
Oklahoma State will have a week off before facing Memphis on February 4 at 6 p.m. in Tulsa.
