Cowgirl Basketball Falls To South Dakota State, 89-61

The Cowgirls (4-5) shot 50 percent in the first half, but found themselves down 44-38 at the break after the Jackrabbits (10-4) converted 61 percent from the floor.
SDSU, a provisional Division I team, held OSU to 23 points during the second half to pull away and move to 4-4 against Division I competition this season.
The Jackrabbits hit 34 of their 61 shots (55.7 percent) on the evening including 14 from beyond the three-point arc. SDSU also won the battle on the backboards, outrebounding OSU 37-20 and finished the contest with assists on 31 of their 34 baskets.
Shannon Schlagel tallied 19 points, eight rebounds and eight assists to lead a list of four SDSU players that finished in double figures in the scoring column. OSU freshman Taleesha Conder was the only Cowgirl to reach double figures, pouring in 16 points in her first career start.
OSU will return to action on Jan. 2 when it hosts Texas-Pan American at 2 p.m. in its final non-conference game of the season.
