Cowgirl Basketball Ready To Battle Texas

Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (5-8, 0-3) will travel to Austin this weekend in search of its first conference victory of the season after suffering a 49-44 loss on Wednesday night to Texas A&M in Stillwater. The Cowgirls will take on Texas (8-5, 1-2) at 3 p.m. at the Frank Erwin Center.
ABOUT TEXAS
The Longhorns enter the contest having lost two straight after being dealt road losses at Baylor and at Texas Tech. Texas is sporting a 6-1 home record with its lone loss coming at the hands of Rutgers on Jan. 2. All five of UT's losses have come against teams currently ranked in the Top 20. The Longhorns have three players averaging double figures with sophomore Tiffany Jackson leading the way at 15.9 points per game. Senior Jamie Carey checks in at 12.6 points per game and is the team's leading three-point threat with a 47 percent success rate from beyond the arc. Senior Heather Schreiber is averaging 10.7 points per outing as well. Jackson, a high school teammate of Cowgirl Destanie Sykes, is also the squad's leading rebounder, pulling 7.8 rebounds per game. The 6-3 forward also has team highs with 28 blocks and 37 steals.
OSU AND TEXASÂTHE SERIES
The Cowgirls and Longhorns have squared off 19 times with Texas holding a commanding 16-3 advantage. UT has reeled off nine consecutive wins against OSU with the Cowgirls' last victory in the series coming on Jan. 12, 2000, a 71-69 win in Stillwater. OSU's lone victory in Austin came in 1998 when the Cowgirls posted a 69-66 win.
