Cowboys host Cyclones in Gallagher-Iba Arena
Oklahoma State will host the Iowa State Cyclones this Saturday, Jan. 15, in a game televised regionally by ABC Sports. Tipoff is set for 12:35 p.m. The Cowboys are 12-1 overall and 2-0 in Big 12 Conference action after a 78-68 win over Missouri Tuesday night in Stillwater. ISU is 8-4 overall, 0-1 in league play and coming off a 71-66 loss to Kansas Wednesday night in Ames. Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Iowa State, 54-50, including a 31-13 mark in Stillwater.
Last game
Joey Graham scored a game-high 27 points and John Lucas added 18 as the Cowboys handed Coach Eddie Sutton his 767th career victory with a 78-68 win over the Missouri Tigers Tuesday night in Gallagher-Iba Arena. OSU led, 36-34, at intermission, shooting just 41.4 percent in the first half. However, a 12-of-20 shooting performance in the second period from the floor and 16-of-19 from the charity stripe gave the Pokes the 10-point win. Coach Sutton tied his mentor, Henry Iba, for seventh place on the all-time career coaching victories list with the win. Mr. Iba was 767-338 in his 41-year career that ended in 1970. As a team, OSU connected on 26-of-29 shots from the line, including a perfect 13-of-13 by Graham. Mizzou was just as good, making 18-of-20 from the free-throw line, including an equal 13-of-13 by Linas Kleiza, who led the Tigers with 24 points. Graham also had nine rebounds and three steals in the game. Lucas had five assists and just one turnover, while Stephen Graham added 13 points in 25 minutes off the bench. Long-range shooting kept the Tigers in the game, who connected on 8-of-21 from beyond the arc.
Sutton ties Iba for career victories
With Tuesday nights win over Missouri, Coach Eddie Sutton tied his mentor, Henry Iba, for seventh place on the all-time career victories list. Sutton played for Mr. Iba from 1956-59, and was an assistant for the Iron Duke one season. Coach Sutton is 767-293 in his 35 year career at the Division I level. Mr. Iba was 767-338 in his 41 year career as a Division I coach at Northwest Missouri State, Colorado and what was then Oklahoma A&M. His career ran from 1929-70.
Series vs. the Cyclones
Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Iowa State, 54-50, including an 8-2 mark since Big 12 play began in 1997. OSU is 31-13 vs. the Cyclones in Stillwater, and 19-6 vs. ISU in the Eddie Sutton era. Oklahoma State has won the last four games in the series, including last years 83-75 win in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament in Dallas. OSU won the last meeting in Gallagher-Iba Arena, 68-55. The Pokes have won the last 12 meetings with ISU in Stillwater, dating back to a 97-88 loss to the Cyclones on March 2, 1988, a span of 16 years.
OSU-Iowa State on television
Oklahoma States game vs. Iowa State will be televised regionally by ABC Sports. Ron Franklin will handle the play-by-play duties, while Fran Fraschilla will provide expert analysis. It will mark OSUs first ABC contest of the season, and the 10th Cowboy game televised this season. Every Oklahoma State game from this point on will be televised, either nationally, regionally or on the Cowboy Sports Network, which is part of ESPNs Full Court package.
Miscellaneous Notes
All 12 OSUs wins this season have come by double figures. The lowest margin of victory for OSU is 10, in the Texas Tech and Missouri contests ... The Pokes are averaging 6.5 three-pointers per game, the most by an OSU squad since 1998-99, when that squad averaged 6.8 treys per contest. In fact, the Cowboys current average ranks as the third best in school history (the 1994 squad averaged 7.6 threes per game) ... OSU is outscoring its opponents by an average of 30 points per game inside Gallagher-Iba Arena ... This years Cowboys have 14 20-point games between them through 13 contests. Last years squad had only three at this point in the year ... Oklahoma State is averaging 11,403 fans per game through seven games this season. This is an actual turnstile count, as most Cowboy games are sold out.

As of Tuesdays national statistics, Oklahoma State ranks third nationally in scoring margin at +23.2 points per game. The Cowboys rank fifth in field-goal percentage at 52.2 percent. OSU ranks 11th in assists per game, averaging 18.3 per contest. The Pokes are 13th in three-point field goal percentage at 42.1 percent. OSU is 114th in scoring defense (58.4 ppg) and 17th in scoring offense (81.6 ppg). The Cowboys are 20th in rebound margin, outrebounding their opponents by 7.1 rpg.
Down the road
Oklahoma State will travel to Austin, Texas, on Monday to face the Texas Longhorns in a Big Monday matchup on Jan. 17. That game will be televised by ESPN. OSU will return home for a game on Saturday, Jan. 22, as the Cowboys host the Baylor Bears in a 12:45 p.m. game. That contest will be televised by ESPN Regional.
