Cowgirl Basketball Set To Take On Texas A&M
January 11, 2005 | Cowgirl Basketball
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (5-7, 0-2) will look to halt a two-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. contest against Texas A&M (9-3, 0-2). The Cowgirls are coming off a 76-38 loss on Saturday to Texas Tech in Stillwater, while the Aggies enter the contest looking to bounce back from a 73-53 loss at Oklahoma.
ABOUT TEXAS A&M
The Aggies will bring a two-game losing skid of their own to Stillwater after opening the conference slate with a home loss to Baylor and last Sunday's setback in Norman. A&M opened its second year under the direction of head coach Gary Blair with a loss against South Florida before reeling off nine consecutive wins. Junior forward Tamea Scales checks in as the squad's leading scorer and rebounder at 11.3 points and 6.2 boards per game, respectively. As a team, the Aggies are hitting 43 percent of their shots from the floor, but have managed to connect on just 27 percent from beyond the three-point line. Defensively, A&M has been solid, holding its opponents to 58 points per game and forcing 24 turnovers per contest.
OSU AND A&MÂTHE SERIES
The Cowgirls and Aggies have met on the hardwood 26 times with OSU prevailing in 19 of those meetings. The squads have split their six regular-season meetings the past three years with both teams defending their home courts a year ago after each picked up road victories in the series during the 2002-03 season. The Cowgirls have won nine of the 13 games against A&M in Stillwater, including last year's 67-65 victory to open Big 12 play.
