Two Cowgirl Netters Advance to Tournament's Final Round

Freshman Iryna Tkachenko rebounded from her first collegiate loss on Friday to defeat Gyorgyi Zsiros of UNLV in the consolation bracket of the tournament's top flight, 6-1, 6-4.
“This tournament has a lot of good individuals playing in it,” head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski said. “I am proud of our girls for doing so well so far. They are really working hard.”
All three of the Cowgirls' doubles teams were victorious in their final matches on Saturday. Blajer teamed with freshman Jana Kubicikova to defeat OU's Braver and Baxley in the final round of the third flight of doubles play, 8-5.
The Cowgirl duo of Tkachenko and junior Zana Masnic was victorious in the consolation match of the top flight of doubles. Simmons and Poskitt also won their consolation match.
“I was pleased with the play of our doubles teams today,” Lubicz-Majewski said. “The girls are starting to work more as a team and are really starting to come together.”
