Sjodin leads Dick McGuire Invitational

The OSU squad was assessed a six-stroke penalty following Monday's round for an unspecified violation of NCAA rules. The Cowgirls, who were tied for third with a 293 following the first round, had their score changed to a 299 after the penalty, dropping them to a three-way tie for seventh.
Karin Sjödin, a Cowgirl junior, shot a four-under-par 69 during the second round and has taken the top spot on the individual leaderboard. Senior Annie Thurman shot the second-best round of the day with a 70, and has moved up nine spots from 12th to third place. Sophomore Mallorie Underwood equalled her 75 from Monday's round, and has cracked into the top 20 in 19th place.
Sjödin shot a bogey-free round Tuesday, recording birdies on the sixth, ninth, 16th and 18th holes. Thurman's 70 was a bit more dramatic. She was even after eight holes with two birdies and two bogeys before carding an eagle on the par-five ninth. She bogeyed No. 17 to go to one-under, and eagled the par-five 18th hole as well.
The tournament will conclude on Wednesday with a final round of 18 holes.
