Cowboys Eliminated By Baylor at the Big 12 Tournament

“Baylor is a tremendous team from top to bottom,” Oklahoma State head coach James Wadley said.
Baylor took control early on in doubles and won all three matches handily to go up 1-0 in the dual.
Singles did not bring any better luck for the Cowboys. Yevgen Bondarchuk won the first three games over 15th-ranked Benjamin Becker, but lost 12 consecutive games and fell 6-3, 6-0.
Daniel Byrnes fell in straight sets to Reiner Neurohr at the No. 5 position. The match ended at the No. 4 position where No. 123 Matija Zgaga defeated Boris Kuharic in straight sets.
OSU tried to stall the No. 4 match because Mark Van Elden was one game away from beating third-ranked Benedikt Dorsch. Van Elden took control of the match early and won the first set 6-2. He was leading the second set 5-3 when the match ended.
“I am really pleased with Mark (Van Elden),” Wadley said. “Mark played terrific tennis and we tried our best to give him a chance to win it.”
Tomas Bohunicky also held a lead in his match over No. 106 Matias Marin. Bohunicky won the first 7-5 and was serving to go up 4-2 in the second set.
OSU will wait to hear where they will be playing the NCAA Regional; the announcement will be made on Wednesday. The Cowboys will take a 17-5 record into the NCAA Tournament.
