OSU Falls to No. 23 Texas A&M
April 25, 2004 | Cowboy Tennis
COLLEGE STATION,
The Cowboys used the same doubles' rotation that they did against
Mark Van Elden and Tomas Bohunicky fell to the second-ranked tandem of Lester Cook and Ante Matijevic 8-2.
The Pokes led in the other two doubles' matches and had a chance to grab the doubles' point, but Daniel Byrnes and Juan Felipe Diaz lost the last five games to Khaled El Dorry and Brett Joelson 8-6 at the No. 3 position.
OSU did manage to win at the No. 2 position when Yevgen Bondarchuk and Boris Kuharic managed to hang on for a 9-7 decision over Mohamed Dakki and Marvin Rolle.
Texas A&M seized the momentum from grabbing the early lead and won three singles' matches in straight sets to claim the victory.
Bryan Wooten finished off OSU's Diaz to give A&M the first two points.
Daniel Byrnes got the Cowboys on the board with a straight set victory over A&M's Joelson.
Texas A&M then polished off the Cowboys with their two All-Americans. No. 14 Cook handed No. 29 Van Elden his first straight set defeat of the year and 20th-ranked Matijevic took care of Bondarchuk in straight sets.
The Aggies were victorious in the remaining two matches that went three sets to give A&M a 6-1 victory.
