April 16, 2004 | Cowboy Tennis
Texas Tech is 11-9 this season with a 2-3 mark in Big 12 duals. The Red Raiders are coming off of a 6-0 blanking of Colorado in their last outing.
Oklahoma State is 14-3 and 3-2 in the Big 12 after a 7-0 shutout of bedlam rival Oklahoma on Wednesday.
Both teams are strong at the top and feature nationally ranked singles' players. OSU is led by No. 25 Mark Van Elden who is 16-1 this season with his only loss coming to third-ranked Benedikt Dorsch. Van Elden may be hampered by a sprained ankle that he suffered in the Oklahoma match.
Texas Tech features No. 72 Jakob Paulsen. Paulsen is 10-10 this spring with most of his losses coming against nationally ranked competition. Paulsen has wins over Texas' Antonio Ruiz and Robert Searle of Rice. He aslo took 20th-ranked Lester Cook of Texas A&M to a seventh game in both sets.
The Cowboys add depth with No. 109 Tomas Bohunicky who is 15-2 at the No. 3 position, and Boris Kuharic is 15-2 at the No. 4 position.
OSU has won four of the last five matchups, including a 6-1 victory last season in Lubbock. The Pokes own an 11-4 edge in the all-time series.
