“We are very excited about the freshman class we have put together,” Goodenough said. “They will elevate our level of athleticism and bring with them a strong work ethic, winning attitudes and intensity.”
Howerton, a native of Newkirk, Okla., led NHS to a 24-3 record and a berth in the Class 2A state tournament this past year. The 5-7 point guard averaged 15.6 points per game while tallying 65 steals and 119 assists on the year. For her efforts, Howerton was named an all-state selection by the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association as well as the Daily Oklahoman and the Tulsa World.
“Karlie is a hard-nosed, intense point guard with good court vision,” Goodenough said. “She can create scoring opportunities for herself as well as for her teammates.”
Moore, who competed this past season for former OSU football player Travis Hartfield, joins the Cowgirl program after a four-year career at Ft. Worth's All Saints' Episcopal School. The Benbrook, Texas native led the Lady Saints to a 19-10 record on her way to earning All-Southwest Preparatory Conference honors for the fourth consecutive year. The 5-10 guard averaged 13.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game as a senior.
“Whitney is a combo guard that can play either guard position for us,” Goodenough said. “She has good three-point range and is one of the strongest passers we saw in the 2004 class.”
The duo joins fall signees Taleesha Conder of Alva, Okla., and Ft. Worth, Texas' Trenisha Williams as members of OSU's 2004-05 recruiting class.
