Cowboys play Cyclones
Oklahoma State travels to Ames, Iowa, this weekend for a game with the Iowa State Cyclones. Game time on Saturday afternoon is set for 12:45 p.m., and the game will be televised by ESPN Regional, part of the Big 12 Conference's television package. OSU is 16-2 overall and 6-1 in Big 12 Conference action after a 91-79 victory over Texas A&M in College Station on Tuesday night. ISU is 13-5 overall, 4-3 in league play after a 75-48 loss to Oklahoma Wednesday night in Norman.
On television
Saturday's game will be televised by ESPN Regional, part of the Big 12 Conference's television package. Fred White will handle the play-by-play duties, while Paul Splittorff will provide color commentary.
Last time out
Oklahoma State shot better than 50 percent for the first time in five games, and John Lucas tied a career high with 27 points as the Cowboys defeated the Texas A&M Aggies, 91-79, Tuesday night in College Station, Texas. OSU connected on 18-of-26 shots from the floor in the second half, good for 69.2 percent. That total also included an 8-of-13 (61.5 percent) mark from beyond the three-point arc. Lucas had 27 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor, including 4-of-6 from long range and 9-of-10 from the charity stripe. Tony Allen scored 21 points for the Pokes, and added five rebounds and five assists. Ivan McFarlin finished with 14 points, while Daniel Bobik added 13 on 3-of-5 shooting from downtown and dished out six assists. As a team, OSU had 22 assists and just nine turnovers, but the Aggies outrebounded Oklahoma State, 35-28. Jesse King scored 19 points for A&M, while Andy Slocum continued his trend of double-doubles with 10 points and 15 boards. In all, the Aggies had five players score in double figures. OSU did limit A&M to just 41.7 percent shooting from the floor, but the Aggies made up for it at the line, connecting on 24-of-30 shots from the stripe compared to 19-of-24 for Oklahoma State.
About Iowa State
The Cyclones are 13-5 overall this season and 4-3 in Big 12 Conference action. ISU is 12-0 at home, but has a 1-5 mark on the road. The Cyclones are led by freshman sensation Curtis Stinson, who leads the team with 14.8 points per game. He is one of four ÂClones averaging double-figure scoring. Jake Sullivan is scoring an average of 13.8 points per game, and has connected on 47 of 121 shots from long range. Jackson Vroman is averaging a double-double this season, chipping in 12.6 points per contest and grabbing 10.1 rebounds per game. Jared Homan is averaging 12.4 points and 6.9 boards per contest. Iowa State is outscoring its opponents by an average of 6.1 points per game, and shooting 46.5 percent from the floor.
Series history
Oklahoma State leads the all-time series with Iowa State, 52-50, although the Cyclones have dominated the Cowboys in Ames, taking a 31-12 margin into this Saturday's game. OSU has won the last three, dating back to an 88-80 overtime win in Gallagher-Iba Arena in the Athletics Center's grand opening on Jan. 8, 2001. OSU is 6-2 vs. ISU since the Big 12 formed in 1996-97, and is 17-6 against the Cyclones since Coach Sutton's arrival in Stillwater. In the last 10 games, Oklahoma State is 7-3 vs. Iowa State.
