Cowgirl Basketball Routs Arkansas Tech, 83-46
December 06, 2004 | Cowgirl Basketball
A little more than 24 hours after suffering a 65-61 setback at the hands of Oral Roberts, the Cowgirls (3-3) responded with a stellar offensive performance that saw four players score in double figures and propel OSU to its largest margin of victory under head coach Julie Goodenough.
The Cowgirls once again were impressive on the glass as well, outrebounding the Golden Suns (3-3) 53-27 and cut down on their miscues, recording a season-low nine turnovers.
OSU jumped on the Tech early and never looked back, building a 20-point advantage on four occasions in the first half and taking a 39-19 advantage into the break after a layup by Christian Hood with nine seconds remaining. The sophomore center made the most of her first career start, pouring in 14 points and grabbing nine rebounds in 23 minutes of action.
The Golden Suns cut the margin to 16 early in the second half, but the Cowgirls recovered with a 19-6 run to pull away.
Senior Nina Stone led all scorers with 25 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while freshman Taleesha Conder and junior Sandra Viksryte added 10 and 12, respectively, off the bench.
The Cowgirls will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Memphis, Tenn., to take on the Memphis Tigers at 6 p.m.
