Cowboy Tennis Earns Top Ranking
December 04, 2004 | Cowboy Tennis
The top individual for the Cowboys is Mark Van Elden, earning a No. 2 ranking. He is joined in the top-10 by Boris Kuharic and Tomas Bohunicky, ranked fifth and sixth, respectively. Artsem Burmistrau ended the fall ranked 11th, and Felipe Diaz finished 15th.
“The ranking is a result of a lot of hard work during the summer and fall,” head coach James Wadley said.
The top team ranking can be credited in large part to a strong showing at the season ending Region V qualifier. The Pokes defeated Arkansas and Oklahoma, each by a score of 4-1, earning a birth at the National Indoor Team Championships held in Chicago in February.
The Cowboys last attended the event, which features the top 16 teams in the country, in 2001, when they upset second-ranked Tennessee.
