December 12, 2004 | Cowgirl Basketball
The Cowgirls (3-4) battled back and forth with the Lady Tigers (6-2) in the first half, exchanging the lead 10 times and tying the score on seven occasions through the first 20 minutes. Neither team led by more than four points until Raven Rogers' jumper with one second left in the half gave Memphis a 40-35 advantage at the break.
With two minutes left in the period, the Cowgirls held a two-point lead, but three consecutive Lady Tiger offensive possessions produced a trio of three-pointers before Rogers produced the final bucket of the half. Rogers grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds en route to helping Memphis become the first team to outrebound OSU on the season, finishing with a 37-34 advantage on the boards.
Victoria Crawford scored 14 of her game-high 20 points in the second half on five of eight shooting from the floor to help the Lady Tigers to an 11-point lead on two occasions and pull away.
Senior Nina Stone scored a team-high 18 points for the Cowgirls, while freshman Taleesha Conder came off the bench to add 12 points for OSU.
The Cowgirls will return to action on Dec. 20 when they host Texas Southern at 7 p.m. in the first of three consecutive home games.
