Van Elden Falls in First Round

Oklahoma State's Mark Van Elden lost his first round match to Oregon's Sven Swinnen Thursday at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships inside the University of Michigan's Varsity Tennis Center.

Van Elden, ranked 13th in the country, split the first two sets with No. 12 Swinnen, 3-6, 7-6 (4), before retiring due to illness when trailing the third set, 5-3.

Van Elden's loss ends the fall season for Oklahoma State.
