The Cowgirls (1-1) remained in the contest despite giving up 19 points off their turnovers, staying within single digits for the majority of the game. Meanwhile, the Lobos (2-0) surrendered just two points off their 22 turnovers on the evening.
OSU also found itself in foul trouble, putting New Mexico at the free throw line 28 times, while being held to just 14 attempts. The Cowgirls finished with five players having at least three fouls, including seniors NIna Stone and Eliz Gomes who were plagued by four apiece.

OSU cut the lead to three on several occasions in the second half and had consecutive steals down the stretch. Unable to convert, OSU saw New Mexico hit three free throws down the stretch to put the game away.
Freshman Taleesha Conder was the lone Cowgirl to finish in double figures, pouring in 18 points to finish in double figures for the second consecutive contest. Junior Sandra Viksryte added nine points, while Gomes added a team-high six rebounds.
OSU will return to action this Saturday when it travels to Fresno, Calif., to take on Fresno State at 9 p.m. (CST).
