Cowgirl Basketball Rolls, 87-45, In Exhibition Finale

The Cowgirls got a 28-point effort from senior guard Nina Stone, who connected on three consecutive three-point baskets in the early going to help OSU race out to an 11-2 lead over the Flyers (2-4). The advantage grew to 28-4 with eight minutes remaining in the half and stood at 47-13 at the midway point.
OSU also got standout performances from senior Eliz Gomes, who finished with 14 points and seven rebounds and sophomore Christian Hood, who turned in a 12-point, 12-rebound outing. Sophomore Devry McDonald chipped in with 10 points, six rebounds and a team-high five assists.
The Cowgirls hit 31 of their 66 shot attempts, including a 9-of-17 effort from beyond the three-point line. The OSU defense limited the Flyers to just five field goals through the first 20 minutes and 16 field goals overall on 65 attempts on the evening.
Twelve players saw action for the Cowgirls and nine players played at least eight minutes on the night as OSU moved to 5 -1 all-time in exhibition play under head coach Julie Goodenough.
The Cowgirls will open the regular season on Saturday when they play host to Nicholls State at 2 p.m. in Stillwater.
