Lucas, Graham tabbed Preseason All-Big 12 by league coaches
October 26, 2004 | Cowboy Basketball
Last year, Tony Allen and John Lucas became the first Cowboy duo to be named first-team all-conference since 1995, when Bryant Reeves and Randy Rutherford garnered the honor. This year, Lucas and teammate Joey Graham join three other players on the 2004-05 Preseason All-Big 12 Coaches Team.
Other members include Iowa State's Curtis Stinson, and Keith Langford and Wayne Simien of Kansas. Simien was named the preseason Player of the Year, while Oklahoma's Taj Gray was named the Newcomer of the Year. Daniel Gibson of Texas was named the Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year.
Both Lucas and Graham have been tabbed on the preseason watch list for the Wooden Award which goes to the nation's top collegiate basketball player. Lucas averaged 15.1 points and 4.6 assists per game last year, while Graham averaged 12.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest. Both were key components in OSU's run to the Final Four last season.
