All-Big 12 Candidate
By graduating in 3-1/2 years, Ivan has regained a year of eligibility. He has an opportunity to become one of the most prolific players in school history. He is already one of just three OSU players to record 1,000 points, 700 rebounds, 100 steals and 100 blocked shots in a career, joining Byron Houston and Leroy Combs. Ivan has played mostly the center position throughout his career, although this season, he may see more time at the power forward spot, his natural position. He has the uncanny ability to perform around the basket, often scoring off second-chance opportunities. He is a dominating rebounder, and plays quality defense.
Career Numbers: Ivan ranks second all-time in school history for career field-goal percentage, connecting on 58.3 percent of his shots. Only Bryant Reeves 58.5 percent ranks higher. Ivan ranks fifth in career double-doubles with 21, and needs just two to move past Desmond Mason and into fourth place. He ranks sixth in blocked shots with 117, but needs 51 to move up and past Leroy Combs, who finished his career with 167. Ivan has started 98 games in his career, and needs 12 to more into the top four and 27 to move into second place. He has 69 consecutive starts, ranking sixth, and needs 20 to move into third place. He could conceivably move into second place with more consecutive starts. Ivan has 733 career rebounds, ranking 10th, and needs 67 to become the fifth player in school history to record 800 career rebounds.
2003-04 (Junior): CBSsportsline.com named Ivan the Most Valuable Player of the Kansas City pod in the NCAA Tournament. He dominated the two games at Kemper Arena, averaging 16.5 points and 10 rebounds in victories over Eastern Washington and Memphis. He connected on 15-of-23 (65.2 percent) of his shots from the floor, and also had six steals and five blocked shots in the two wins. Ivan was named second-team All-Big 12 by the Dallas Morning News, and was honorable mention All-Big 12 according to the Associated Press. He was also named to the Big 12 All-Defense team. Ivan became the 25th player in school history to record 1,000 points in a career when he scored a season-high 24 points at Baylor on Feb. 28. He connected on 58.8 percent of his shots from the floor, the third-consecutive season he has led the team in that category. Ivan averaged 12.2 points per game, his highest average in three years as a Cowboy. He led the team in rebounding, averaging 6.7 boards per contest, and also led the squad in blocks with 54 deflections. He became the 10th Cowboy in school history to grab 700 rebounds in a career when he had 10 boards against Memphis in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Ivan had 16 multiple-block games his junior season, including a career-high six vs. Southeastern State on Dec. 16. He had seven double-doubles during the season, bringing his career total to 21. Ivan grabbed a season-high 13 boards vs. Arkansas on Dec. 20. He had 12 multi-steals games last year, including matching his career best of five vs. Colorado State on Nov. 26 in Tulsa.
2002-03 (Sophomore): Ivan averaged 10.7 points per game his sophomore season, and was named honorable mention All-Big 12 by the conference coaches. He ranked fifth in the Big 12 in field goal percentage at 54.7 percent, and ranked eighth in the league in rebounding, averaging 7.8 boards per contest. Ivan was seventh in the conference in double-doubles with nine. He recorded his ninth double-double of the season and 14th of his career with 14 points and 12 rebounds in the Cowboys loss to Syracuse in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Ivan recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds vs. Penn in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. He also had four assists and three steals in the first-round matchup. Ivan was 10-of-16 from the floor in two NCAA Tournament games. He grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds in the Cowboys quarterfinals loss to Missouri in the Big 12 Tournament. Ivan marked down a double-double for the second-consecutive game with 17 points and 14 rebounds vs. Texas A&M, one game after he recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds at Colorado. He had 10 rebounds and seven points at Kansas, and reached double figures with 10 points vs. Oklahoma, and also had five rebounds and three steals. Ivan struggled against Baylor, and was held scoreless for the first time in his career. He returned to his old form, scoring 17 points and grabbing eight rebounds vs. Nebraska. He recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds vs. Baylor, and was 7-of-10 from the line and had two blocks in that game. Ivan recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds vs. Oklahoma. He scored a career-high 27 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the floor and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the line vs. BYU. Ivan scored 24 points and grabbed 15 rebounds vs. UMKC, shooting 11-of-15 from the floor. He had 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting and 10 rebounds vs. Fresno State. Ivan matched his 14 points with 14 boards at Alaska-Anchorage.
Big 12 All-Star Tour (summer 2002): Ivan spent the summer traveling with the Big 12 All-Star squad in Sweden and Norway, and was second in scoring and rebounding, averaging 12.3 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per contest. He led the team in shooting, connecting on 70.8 percent (34-of-48) of his shots, and also had a team-best 10 steals. He recorded one of two team double-doubles with 16 points and 10 boards vs. Sodertalje, and scored a tour-high 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting in the final game of the trip.
2001-02 (Freshman): Ivan shot 61.4 percent for the season, the second-best shooting percentage in the league behind Colorados David Harrison (63.8 percent). He ranked 10th in the Big 12 in rebounding with a 7.7 average. Ivan led the team and was 11th in the league with a 1.47 steals-per-game average. He ranked 12th in the conference in blocked shots, averaging 1.12 per contest, and was second in the league with a 3.44 average in offensive rebounds. Ivan tied for the team lead with five double-doubles. He grabbed 11 rebounds vs. Kent State in the NCAA Tournament and scored nine points in that game. Ivan was named honorable mention All-Big 12 by both the Big 12 Coaches and the Associated Press, and was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year by the Dallas Morning News. He was also named to the All-Newcomer team by media that regularly covers the Big 12. Ivan was named the Big 12 Conferences Rookie of the Week for the second time on Feb. 25 after recording his fifth-career double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds vs. Baylor. He also had two assists and two blocks, his ninth multi-block game of the season. Ivan grabbed a game-high 11 boards vs. Texas and also had two blocks, his eighth multi-block game of the season. Ivan scored a season-high 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting vs. Oklahoma, and had two dunks in the game, including a steal and a break-away slam with just under two minutes remaining in overtime to put OSU up by four. He scored eight of the Cowboys 18 points in OT versus the Sooners, and also had three blocked shots. Ivan was named the Big 12 Conferences Rookie of the Week for the period ending Jan. 27 after he scored 20 points and pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds vs. Nebraska with three blocked shots. Ivan had a team-high 16 points, eight rebounds and three steals in just 24 minutes vs. Iowa State. He was two points shy of a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds vs. Baylor. Ivan recorded back-to-back double-doubles with 11 points and 11 rebounds vs. Ball State, and also had three blocks in the game. He chalked up his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds vs. Arkansas. Ivan scored 19 points vs. New Orleans on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor and 3-of-4 shooting from the line, and also had five steals, a career high. He recorded the first double-double of his career with 17 points and 10 rebounds vs. Austin Peay.
2000-01 (Redshirt): Ivan spent the 2000-01 season practicing with the team, but sat out due to being a partial qualifier. He regained a year of eligibility by graduating in 3-1/2 years. Therefore, his first season at OSU becomes his redshirt season.
High School: Ivan was an All-State selection after leading Willowridge to the Class 5A state championship his senior year, its third straight. He averaged 15.9 points, 14.9 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 3.2 steals that season. He was a key figure on a defensive-oriented team, shown as he forced five steals in the state title game. Ivan averaged 18.6 points and 11 rebounds in the state tournament and earned MVP honors. He was named first-team All-District 20-5A and second-team All-Greater Houston according to the Houston Chronicle. Ivan helped Willowridge finish the year ranked No. 5 nationally according to USA Today and No. 2 by HoopsUSA. He averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds per game as Willowridge went 33-3 in his junior year, and was named as a top-40 recruit nationally.
Personal: Born April 26, 1982, in Houston, Texas, Ivan is the son of Delphine and Jerry Jordan. He has two brothers, Tyrone and Michael, and three sisters: Toni, Tenika and Lasonja. Ivan graduated last December with a bachelors of university studies with an emphasis in family relations and childhood development, and is currently working on his masters degree. He loves to read books, play video games and listen to music.
