Cowboys Perform Well Through Two Rounds

Top seed Mark Van Elden cruised to a pair of straight set victories, beating Nebraska's Marcus Karner, 6-0, 6-3, in the first round and Drake's Jack Frankowitz, 6-2, 6-1, in the second round.
Fourth seeded Boris Kuharic and Felipe Diaz also made the round of 16, and Artsem Burmistrau posted a second round upset of the No. 7 seed Alexei Ivanov of Oklahoma to make it to the third round.
Tomas Bohunicky entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed, but was upset in the second round by Diego Camacho of Tulsa, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.
In doubles action, Diaz and Kuharic won their first match, 8-3, over Jack Frankowicz and Jonathon Tishler of Drake, and the team of Bohunicky and Burmistrau was ousted in the first round by Aleksander Charpantidis and Achim Roth of Tulsa.
The Cowboys look to continue their success Saturday, with singles play beginning at 9 a.m. and doubles play at 11:30 a.m.
