Cowgirls Set To Travel To Top-Ranked Texas Tech

Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (6-6) travels to Lubbock for a 7 p.m. tilt on Saturday against nationally-ranked Texas Tech (14-0). The Cowgirls opened conference play on Wednesday night with a 67-65 win over Texas A&M in Stillwater, while the Lady Raiders last played on Jan. 4 against Pepperdine, winning 95-53.
SCOUTING THE LADY RAIDERS
At 14-0, Marsha Sharp's squad currently sits atop the league standings and is off to the best start in school history. The Lady Raiders are ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press poll and No. 1 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, making them the first Big 12 team to achieve the top spot since the formation of the league. The squad is led in scoring by Jia Perkins (16.6 ppg), while sophomore Erin Grant has dished out a team-best 87 assists and senior Casey Jackson is pulling a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game Tech holds a 17-11 advantage over the Cowgirls all-time after taking all three meetings last season. The Lady Raiders won 95-45 in Lubbock before an 83-48 victory in Stillwater. Tech ended OSU's season with a 75-52 win in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament.
UP NEXT
The Cowgirls will return home to face No. 11/12 Kansas State. The Wildcats won last season's matchup, 64-46. However, OSU upset then-No. 9 K-State, 68-60, two years ago in the last meeting between the two squads in Stillwater. The Cowgirls hold a 25-22 advantage all-time against the Wildcats, including a 12-7 margin at home.

Oklahoma State's women's basketball team got a late basket from Nina Stone to defeat Texas A&M, 67-65, on Wednesday evening in its Big 12 Conference opener inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.The Cowgirls (6-6 overall, 1-0 Big 12) ended a three-game losing skid on the season and a two-game home losing streak against the Aggies (7-5, 0-1). A&M built its biggest lead at seven in the first half and the Cowgirls jumped out to an eight-point advantage in the second half, but neither squad could pull away with the lead changing hands 17 times. The Aggies took a 35-34 lead at the half behind 16 first-half points from D'Nika Romero on a 4-of-8 effort from the three-point line. With the score tied at 65, Stone went the length of the floor to convert two of her career-high 21 points with two seconds left and preserve the win. The Indianapolis, Ind., native also dished out a team-high seven assists and grabbed six rebounds.
