Cowgirls Turned Away by the Lady Jaguars 68-59
January 04, 2004 | Cowgirl Basketball
Skibbe scored 25 of OSU's 59 points and was the only Cowgirl in double figures, and she scored the first 10 points of the game for OSU.
OSU (5-5) trailed by as many five points in the first half, but they closed it out with a 7-0 run that was capped by a Nina stone runner in the lane that crawled over the rim as the buzzer sounded to give the Cowgirls a 29-27 lead at halftime.
USA (11-1) opened the second half with a 5-0 run to take a 32-29 lead.
Skibbe picked up her fourth foul with 7:49 remaining and the Lady Jaguars extended their lead to 10.
Eliz Gomes helped the Cowgirls get back into the game with three consecutive baskets to pull the Cowgirls to within three points, but that was as close as the Cowgirls would get the rest of the way.
USA was led by Whitney Woodard with 25 points and nine rebounds.
The Cowgirls will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to take on the Lady Razorbacks in an afternoon tilt at Bud Walton arena on Sunday at 2 p.m.
