Cowgirls Prepare To Host Texas Tech

Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (6-10 overall, 1-4 Big 12) will look to snap a four-game losing streak on Saturday when it takes on third-ranked Texas Tech (17-1, 3-1) at 2 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowgirls are coming off a 67-45 loss at Texas, while the Lady Raiders posted a 68-55 win over Nebraska in their last outing.
SCOUTING THE LADY RAIDERS
The Lady Raiders won their first 15 games of the season, propelling them to the best start in school history. Tech concluded the string with a 106-43 win over the Cowgirls on Jan. 10 before falling, 64-63, at Iowa State for its lone setback of the year. Freshman Alesha Robertson has paced the Lady Raiders in scoring during Tech's last two games and is the Lady Raiders' top scorer at 11.1 points per game with Jia Perkins (16.5 ppg) out for the season. Sophomore guard Erin Grant has started all 18 games and has dished a league-best 118 assists (6.6 apg) on the year. Texas Tech holds an 18-11 advantage in the overall series with the Cowgirls and has won four consecutive meetings. OSU's last win in the series came in 2002, a 58-55 upset of the then-No. 8 Lady Raiders in Stillwater.
UP NEXT
The Cowgirls will continue their homestand on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. contest against Iowa State. The Cyclones enter the week fresh off a win over Oklahoma in Ames and will take on Colorado Sunday afternoon before traveling to Stillwater. ISU won last year's meeting, 79-55, in Ames and has won seven of the last eight, however, OSU holds a 22-18 advantage in the all-time series.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Jamie Carey scored 18 points, and third-ranked Texas beat Oklahoma State 67-45 Wednesday night for its 29th consecutive victory at home. Carey hit four 3-pointers for the Longhorns. Stacy Stephens added 13 points and Tiffany Jackson 10. Trisha Skibbe scored 12 points; well below her average of 21 for Oklahoma State which has lost four in a row. The Cowgirls committed 27 turnovers the Longhorns transformed into 30 points. OSU, which lost by 50 points to Oklahoma four days earlier, kept it close in the first half despite its sloppy play. Carey scored 13 points in the first half on 5-of-9 shooting but was the only consistent offensive weapon for the Longhorns. Texas led 25-20 late in the half before Carey and Jackson scored all of the Longhorns' points in a 9-4 run that opened a 34-24 lead. Heather Schreiber began the second half with a 3-pointer. Stephens hit a layup and Carey made another 3 from deep in the left corner in a 8-0 Texas run that made it 42-24. The Longhorns led by at least 15 points the rest of the way.
