Cowgirl Basketball Ready For Bedlam

Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (6-8 overall, 1-2 Big 12) heads to Norman on Saturday to take on in-state rival Oklahoma (12-2, 2-1) at 6 p.m. The Cowgirls will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak, while the Sooners enter the contest fresh off their first overtime game of the year, a 65-56 triumph at Texas A&M on Wednesday.
SCOUTING THE SOONERS
The 72nd edition in the Bedlam Series will see the Cowgirls take on their third consecutive top-15 teams as the Sooners enter the tilt in the No. 15 slot. OU opened the season with eight consecutive wins and both of the squad's losses have come at the hands of top-five opponents (Tennessee and Texas). The Sooners are 5-1 at home this season with the lone setback coming at the hands of the Lady Vols on Dec. 21. OU has three players averaging double figures in scoring, led by senior Maria Villarroel's 15.6 points per outing, and is shooting 47 percent from the floor as a team.The Sooners hold a 37-34 edge all-time in the series with OSU, having won nine straight against the Cowgirls and 11 of the last 12 meetings. OU has won 20 of the 31 meetings between the two squads in Norman, including the last five outings

The Cowgirls will close out their two-game road swing with a Wednesday night contest in Austin against No.3-ranked Texas. The Longhorns enter this weekend's contest against Iowa State at 14-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play after Wednesday night's 78-64 loss at Baylor.

The Sooners are the third of five consecutive nationally-ranked opponents for the Cowgirls ... an OSU win would be their second conference road win under Goodenough and first since last season at Texas A&M (2-26-03) ... Trisha Skibbe enters the contest four rebounds shy of tying Jamie Seiss for fourth on the school's career rebounding chart and one double-double away from tying Seiss for third all-time in school history.

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- Kendra Wecker scored 18 points and Nicole Ohlde added 17 and 10 rebounds to lead Kansas State past Oklahoma State with a 76-44 win in front of 3,121 fans inside Gallagher-Iba Arena on Tuesday night. The Wildcats (12-2, 3-0 Big 12) went on a 19-0 run that spanned both halves, taking much of the early fight out of Oklahoma State (6-8, 1-2). K-State held OSU to just 29 percent shooting from the floor and held the Cowgirls to 15 points in the first half, while converting 47 percent of their shots. The Cowgirls, who lost 106-43 to top-ranked Texas Tech on Saturday, have dropped five of their last six games. Trisha Skibbe led Oklahoma State with 14 points and a team-best six rebounds, and Kenzie Cole added 12. Laurie Koehn chipped in with 14 points for Kansas State on a 4-of-8 effort from beyond the three-point arc.
