Cowgirl Basketball Announces 2003-04 Schedule
September 30, 2003 | Cowgirl Basketball
The Cowgirls will begin the season with a Nov. 7 exhibition against the Oklahoma Flyers and will open the regular season against in-state rival Tulsa at the Bertha Teague Classic in Oklahoma City on Nov. 22.
A road tilt against Wichita State on Nov. 25 will precede a trip to Seattle for the Seattle Times Classic and a first-round matchup against Yale. Gonzaga and Washington will also take part in the event.
'The University of Washington tournament will be a great challenge for us in the early season,' head coach Julie Goodenough said. 'Overall, our non-conference schedule will be a good measuring stick for us to see if we are ready for the Big 12.'
OSU will open the home portion of its schedule against Michigan State on Dec. 2 before hosting Sam Houston State in the first round of the Cowgirl Classic on Dec. 5. Fresno State and Western Illinois round out this year's field.
After a road trip to Santa Clara on Dec. 18, the Cowgirls will return home for back-to-back home dates against Texas-Arlington and South Alabama before closing out the non-conference schedule at Arkansas.
Three of the Cowgirls' 16 Big 12 contests will be televised by Fox Sports Net. OSU's home games against Texas on Feb. 7 and Oklahoma on Feb. 28 will both be carried by the network in addition to the Cowgirls' Feb. 21 road contest at Colorado.
'The television exposure is invaluable to our program and the conference,' Goodenough said. 'We are thrilled to have three of our games carried by Fox Sports Net.'
