STILLWATER, Okla. -- The Oklahoma State men's basketball team announced today the signing of two junior-college transfers, Anthony Dent and John Gilmore.
"We're very excited that these two young men have made the decision to join our basketball family," said Cowboy head coach Eddie Sutton. "Both are outstanding young men, and we are looking forward to coaching them."
Dent, a 6-foot-9, 240-pound center from Edison, Ga., will come to OSU from Dixie (Utah) College. He spent last season at Pensacola (Fla.) Junior College, where he averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds.
"Anthony is a gifted athlete who will help immediately in our program," said Sutton. "He brings a great front-court presence in his ability to block shots and rebound as well as to score. He runs the floor well and will be a great addition to our front line."
Gilmore, a 6-7, 240-pound forward from Missouri City, Texas, played last season at Wisconsin-Milwaukee and will compete this season at Tyler (Texas) Junior College. He averaged 9.1 points and 6.1 rebounds as a freshman for UWM. At Houston's Episcopal High School, he averaged 29 points and 13 rebounds as a senior and 27 points and 13 rebounds as a junior while earning all-conference and all-district honors both seasons. He was team MVP as a senior and scored 47 points at the Texas Private School All-Star Game.
"John is a power player who's a strong, physical athlete," said Sutton. "His size and athletic ability will allow him to make an immediate contribution to our team in the low post."
The Cowboys open their regular season with a game against Texas-Pan American on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
