Cowboys Square Off Against Highly Touted Arizona State
July 24, 2003 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's undefeated men's basketball team hits the road for the first time tomorrow, although the Cowboys won't have to travel far.
OSU, ranked No. 24 in the Sagarin Ratings, will match up with Arizona State (34th in the Sagarins) on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at the Myriad in Oklahoma City. It's the first time since the 1988-89 season that Oklahoma State has played a regularly scheduled game in Oklahoma City, giving OKC's Cowboy fans their first chance to see OSU play without leaving the city in nine years.
Many good seats remain for the game, and fans can either call the Myriad box office at 297-3000 or purchase tickets at the door before Wednesday's game. Cowboy coach Eddie Sutton says fan turnout will be a key factor in his team's chances against a Sun Devil squad that won at Cincinnati and took Kansas to overtime.
"It's obviously very important to us that all the fans in the Oklahoma City area come out and support us," said Sutton. "Arizona State is one of the surprising teams in the country this season, and a home-court advantage would help us a great deal."
The Cowboys and Sun Devils met last season in Tempe, and ASU came away with a 68-67 victory.
