Garret Steggs (1995-1999): Tight end Garret Steggs began his career as a walk-on in 1995 and was listed as number one at tight end before his senior season. Started five games his junior season and finished with three catches for 52 yards. After Alonzo Mayes suffered a season-ending injury, he started the final four games of his sophomore season, including the Cowboys trip to the Alamo Bowl. He ended the season with 11 catches for 172 yards.
Now: Nikki and Garret are happily married and living in Wray, Colo., located about two hours northeast of Denver. They manage one of three aerial spraying companies owned by Garrets father. Nikki is also the Recreation Direction for the town, which involves organizing little league sports for kids sixth grade and under, including soccer, football, basketball, street hockey, gymnastics, dance, crafts, baseball and softball. Garret is a pilot and does crop dusting.
