Women's Hoops Signs Kansas All-Stater
June 09, 2003 | Cowgirl Basketball
A 6-3 post player at Oxford High School in Oxford, Kan., Skibbe averaged 20.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per game her junior season. She also averaged 3.1 blocks per game while being named all-conference.
"I chose Oklahoma State not only because of its closeness to home, but also because I really liked the coaching staff," said Skibbe. "Stillwater is only about 1-1/2 hours from home."
Skibbe was named first-team all-state by the Wichita News Eagle, and second-team all-state by the Topeka Journal.
"She's a legitimate 6-2 kid who can jump up and catch the rim," said OSU Associate Head Coach Jack Easley. "She runs the floor like a perimeter player. I felt really fortunate to get her. It came down to us and Ole Miss."
Skibbe chose Oklahoma State over Ole Miss, Wichita State and Tulsa.
