Women's Basketball Pounds Icelandic Natl. Team
June 09, 2003 | Cowgirl Basketball
The Cowgirls' 6-7 center Devon Magness dominated the offensive and defensive boards, pulling down 10 rebounds in just 24 minutes of play. She also shot 4-of- 5 from the field and 6-of-6 from the stripe. Jennifer Crow and freshman Coleman Smith each added nine points to the Cowgirls' cause.
"I thought we played a lot better in the second half," said OSU head coach Dick Halterman, entering his 16th season. "We got a lot of shots out of our offense. There is no question we struggled with the half-court offense in the first half, but we made adjustments. The kids played hard."
OSU struggled from the floor, though, connecting on just 20-of-55 shots, including 3-of-15 from behind the three-point arc. However, the Cowgirls did hold Iceland to just 34.1 percent from the field, and outrebounded the Icelandics, 42-28.
Oklahoma State will return to action Wednesday, Nov. 11, as the Cowgirls host the Myjava Slovak team in the final exhibition game before the regular season begins. Game time will be 7 p.m.
