SMU eventually pulled away, defeating the Cowgirls, 71-56. Freshman center Devon Magness recorded the first double-double of her young career with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Renee Roberts added 16 points, leading the team in scoring both games. Both Roberts and Magness were named to the all-tournament team.

Only 11 other Cowgirls have ever completed that feat, the most recent being Stacy Coffey, who scored 1,381 points in her career from 1993-96. Clinette Jordan holds the school record for points in a season with 2,168 from 1986-89. Roberts currently ranks 12th in school history, 17 points behind Rhonda Kite's 1,004 from 1978-80.
Coach Dick Halterman Dick Halterman is in his 15th season as head coach of the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, and brings with him a 257-163 (.612) record, the most wins by a women's basketball coach in OSU history. Prior to that, Halterman was the head coach at Wheeling High School for four years, and led the team to a 105-11 record and the 1975 Missouri State High School Basketball Championship.
