Cowgirls Host Southwest Missouri State

UP NEXT - Oklahoma State will travel to Wichita, Kan., on Sunday, Dec. 5, to play the Wichita State Shockers. Game time is set for 2 p.m. The Cowgirls will then take off a week for finals before hosting Long Beach State on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m. in the Myriad in Oklahoma City.
INJURY UPDATE - Sophomore guard/forward Mandy Stuber is out for another 2-4 weeks after breaking a bone in her right foot on Nov. 7. She was initially out 6-8 weeks, and will probably be cleared to practice in mid-late December.

LAST TIME - Senior Jennifer Crow scored a career-high 26 points and two other Cowgirls scored in double figures as OSU defeated Oral Roberts, 68-51, in the Bertha Teague women's basketball classic Monday night. Sophomore Kara Faulk tied a season high with 15 points while freshman Chantoya Hawkins pitched in 10. Oklahoma State took a seven-point lead with 8:52 remaining in the first half on a jumper by Crow. The two teams see-sawed back and forth during the period, with OSU regaining the seven-point margin at halftime, 31-24. Crow hit a three-pointer from the corner 1:12 into the second half to put the lead into double-digits, and the Cowgirls increased the lead to 15 on two occasions, the second at the 13:43 mark. The Golden Eagles got the deficit down into single digits three times, the last being a nine-point margin at 52-43 with 7:32 remaining. But, OSU's Jessica Spinner scored six points over the next three minutes to put ORU away for good. Crow set an OSU school record when she hit her 29th- and 30th-consecutive free throws at the 12:02 mark of the first period. She broke the previous record of 28, set by Jamie Siess during the 1987-88 season. The Corn, Okla., native then missed her 31st attempt. Crow, named to the all-tournament team, missed another personal best as she hit 5-of-9 three pointers, one shy of her career mark. Faulk was 9-of-10 from the charity stripe.

COACH DICK HALTERMAN - Dick Halterman is entering his 17th season as the head coach for the Oklahoma State Cowgirls, and brings with him a 290-189 career mark at OSU. Halterman has guided the Cowgirls to eight postseason appearances in the last 11 years, including seven NCAA Tournament appearances (last in 1996) and one Women's NIT appearance (1998). Under Halterman, 13 Cowgirls have been named first-team all-conference, while 27 student-athletes have achieved first-team academic all-conference status. He is a two-time conference Coach of the Year, and was the District V Coach of the Year in 1991. Halterman has taken two conference All-Star teams abroad, including this past August, when he led the Big 12 All-Stars on a tour of Finland and Sweden. That team finished with a 5-1 record.
HALTERMAN ON RADIO/TV - During the 1999-2000 season, fans can catch up with the Cowgirl head coach on both the radio and television. The Coach Halterman Radio Show will be broadcast every Monday evening from 5:30 - 6 p.m. on KGFY-105.5 FM in Stillwater. Fans can call in and ask questions of the OSU coach. The Coach Halterman Television Show will be broadcast on Tuesday's at 7 p.m. on KWEM-TV 31 in Stillwater, which is Channel 3 on Peak Cablevision. Casey Kendrick, program manager at KWEM, will host both the radio and television shows.
COWGIRL BASKETBALL ON THE AIR - Once again during the 1999-2000 season, the Oklahoma State women's basketball games will be broadcast live on KGFY-105.5 FM in Stillwater, part of Stillwater Radio. Kevin Gum, in his 10th season with the Cowgirl broadcast, will handle play-by-play duties, while Casey Kendrick, in his fifth season on the air, will provide color analysis. Fans outside the Stillwater broadcast range will be able to listen to the broadcasts via the internet at www.okstate.com. Gum and Kendrick will be on the air 30 minutes prior to tipoff with pregame analysis, as well as interviews with Coach Halterman and various Cowgirl players.
HOME NON-CONFERENCE WINNING STREAK ON THE LINE - With the 68-49 win over Lamar on two weeks ago, Oklahoma State has won 18 straight home non-conference games, the longest such streak in school history. The Cowgirls are 45-3 in those types of games in the 1990s (73-10 all-time). The only three losses in the 1990s are as follows ... CROW BACK FOR FINAL SEASON - Cowgirl Jennifer Crow is back for her final season in a Cowgirl uniform, and is looking to move up several OSU career statistical charts. She became the 14th player in school history to record 1,000 points in a career, and she currently ranks seventh on the all-time points scored list with 1,259. Jennifer needs 123 points to move past Stacy Coffey for sixth (1,381). She already holds the school record for three-pointers made (150) and attempted (402) in a career. Jennifer was named third-team All-Big 12 last season, and was honored as a second-team Academic All-American her junior year. She ranks 10th in career scoring average at 13.8 ppg, sixth in free-throw percentage at 81.1 percent, and fifth in three-point shooting at 37.3 percent. MISCELLANEOUS NOTES * Senior Jennifer Crow set an OSU school record vs. Lamar when she was successful on 12-of-12 trips to the free-throw line. She broke the previous record of 10-of-10, set by Crista Troester in 1983, and duplicated four times since, the most recent time by Cheri Edwards in 1998. One game later vs. Tulsa, Jennifer broke her own record by connecting on 13-of-13 free throws. * Crow set another school record from the charity stripe by connecting on 30 consecutive free throws. The previous record was 28, set by Jamie Siess in 1987-88. Jennifer made her last three attempts vs. Illinois, then was a perfect 25-of-25 vs. Lamar and Tulsa. She hit her first two vs. Oral Roberts, but then missed her 31st attempt. * After five games this season, Oklahoma State has three players averaging in double-figure scoring, and all three are averaging more than six rebounds per game. Jennifer Crow leads the team in scoring, averaging 18.8 points per game, including a career-high 26 vs. Oral Roberts. She is also averaging 6.2 rebounds per contest. Junior Tari Cummings is averaging 13.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Sophomore Kara Faulk is averaging 10.8 ppg and 7.8 boards per game. * Five Cowgirls have connected on at least one three pointer, led by senior Jennifer Crow (9-of-27). Others that have hit a trey are Tari Cummings, Jessica Spinner, Chantoya Hawkins and Shelby Hutchens. * Through five games, Jennifer Crow has sat on the bench just eight minutes. * Oklahoma State shot 54.1 percent from behind the three-point arc during the two exhibition games, including a 6-of-9 performance from freshman Chantoya Hawkins, and 6-of-10 shooting from Crow. Sophomore Jessica Spinner connected on 4-of-9 treys, while freshman Shelby Hutchens made 3-of-4 three-point attempts. * Sophomore Jessica Spinner is the first Cowgirl to ever wear a single-digit jersey number (#4). * In the 1990s, Oklahoma State is ranked 41st nationally based on both total wins and by overall winning percentage. OSU is 184-109 in the 1990s, good enough for a .628 winning percentage. * Should senior Jennifer Crow average double-figure scoring this season, she will be just the third Cowgirl to do so in school history. Clinette Jordan and Stacy Coffey are the only two OSU players to ever do so. * The championship/consolation game of the Seattle Times Classic will be the 750th game in OSU school history. Oklahoma State is 433-310 (.582) in 26 seasons of Cowgirl Basketball. * Jennifer Crow had 14 assists and just two turnovers in the two exhibition games, a 7-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
OSU-SMS TIES - Oklahoma State has one player from the state of Missouri, freshman point guard Chantoya Hawkins of Raytown, Mo. However, Southwest Missouri State has four players on its roster from the state of Oklahoma. Sarah Singer, a senior from Miami, Okla., Brandi Robinson, a sophomore from Atoka, Okla., Melody Campbell, a junior from Claremore, Okla., and Starr Ryan, a junior from Elk City, Okla., dot the SMS roster. Ryan and OSU's Jennifer Crow are both from Washita County, but attended different high schools, as Crow went to Washita Heights High School.
SERIES HISTORY WITH SOUTHWEST MISSOURI STATE - OSU leads the all-time series with Southwest Missouri State, 3-2, although the two teams have only played once since 1979, an 86-71 SMS win in the first round of the 1993 NCAA Tournament in Springfield.
