Cowgirls Fall in Finals of Cotton Bowl Classic, 71-56

OSU freshman Devon Magness recorded the first double-double of her career with 14 points and 11 rebounds, but scored only two points in the second half. All- Big 12 Renee Roberts led the Cowgirls with 16.
Oklahoma State led 41-33 four minutes into the second half. But, SMU went on a 14-5 run and took the lead at 46-45 with 9:32 left in the game. It was all Mustangs from that point on, as SMU outscored the Cowgirls, 25-11, in the final 9-1/2 minutes.
Sophomore Karlin Kennedy was the leading scorer for the game with 24 points, including 18 in the first half. Megan Woods added two key three pointers during the second stanza to put the Cowgirls away.
OSU connected on 11-of-12 free throws in the first half, but hit just 9-of-18 in the second. The Cowgirls went to the free throw line 16 more times than SMU.
Oklahoma State dropped to 3-2 while SMU upped its record to 5-1. OSU's next action will be Saturday, Dec. 13th, as the Cowgirls travel to Albuquerque, N.M. to face the New Mexico Lobos in a 7 p.m. tipoff.
