Cowgirl Basketball Signs Local Product

Oklahoma State Cowgirl basketball announced the signing of Shelby Hutchens, a Stillwater High School product, to a national letter of intent this afternoon. She becomes the fourth high school senior to sign with OSU this season.

Hutchens was named honorable mention all-state this past season, averaging 17.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for the Pioneers. Her scoring average ranked as the third best in the state in Class 6A, while her rebounds ranked as the 14th-best average. She was also eighth in the state in free-throw shooting and ninth in steals with 65.

Shelby has a lot of talent, said OSU Associate Head Coach Jack Easley. She has the skills that it takes to play at the next level. Right now, Id say she would be a two-guard, but shes certainly has the ability to play the point.

Hutchens, a 5-10 forward, was named to the 1999 All-State Large East roster, and the games will be played on June 4-5 at the Muskogee Civic Center.
