Cowgirl Basketball Adds Fifth Player To Spring Recruiting Class
May 13, 2003 | Cowgirl Basketball
Eliz is the final piece of the puzzle in our recruiting process, Goodenough said. She brings a lot of experience to our program and has the ability to score, rebound, run the floor and defend.
A 6-4 center, Gomes averaged 18.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest last season at Eastern Oklahoma State College. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native connected on 51 percent of her field goals and converted 72 percent from the free throw line while leading the Lady Mountaineers to a 22-7 record and the Bi-State Conference title.
Gomes was tabbed as a second-team All-American as well as a first-team all-conference selection. Rated as the No. 8 junior college center prospect nationally by the All-Star Girls Report, she was also chosen as the Region II Most Valuable Player.
In addition to Gomes, guards Shyra Samuels and Nina Stone and forwards Chareka Terry and Lynsie Tischhauser cast their lot with OSU during the spring signing period.
