Cowgirl Netters Remain Perfect Against Iowa State

The Cowgirl's win against the Cyclones marked the 25th consecutive time that OSU has defeated their former Big 8 opponent. Oklahoma State (9-6 Overall, 4-3 Big 12) has never lost to ISU (1-12 Overall, 0-8 Big 12).
OSU got off to a commanding lead by sweeping the Cyclones in doubles competition. The 25th ranked duo of senior Linda Faltynkova and junior Katya Kolodynska started the scoring off by defeating Kristin Gyaki and Evangelina Soriano at the No. 1 position, 8-5.
Clinching the doubles point, senior Erin Pauchnik and sophomore Ewa Radzikowska dropped Elizabeth Chermel and Tara Goedjen at the No. 2 position, 8-6.
The Cowgirls completed the doubles sweep when sophomore Ines Furtmayr and freshman Zana Masnic easily handled Courtney Leese and Charlotte Ljungkrantz at the No. 3 position, 8-3.
OSU followed the stellar doubles play by picking up a victory in each of it's six singles matches.
At the No. 1 position, Faltynkova defeated Gyaki in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Fellow senior, Kate Vasylyeva followed suit at the No. 2 position, dropping Goedjen, 6-3, 7-6 (2).
The Cowgirls would clinch the match win at the No. 3 singles slot. Kolodynska defeated Soriano in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
Continuing her hot streak, Radzikowska defeated Leese at the No. 4 position in dominant fashion, 6-1, 6-1. The win moves Radzikowska to 9-3 overall on the year. Radzikowska's lone conference loss was a 3-6, 7-5 (10-4) decision to the University of Texas's Ziva Grasic.
Furtmayr, after a positive showing at the No. 6 position, was moved up to the No. 5 slot where she defeated Chermel, 6-1, 6-3.
Rounding out the days scoring for the Cowgirls, Masnic was able to defeat ISU's Ljungkrantz at the No. 6 position, 6-3, 6-3.
The win against Iowa State moved OSU above .500 in conference for the first time since they started 1-0 against Colorado on February 15. The Cowgirls have won 3 consecutive conference matches.
OSU's road trip will continue with a road match against the No. 52 Cornhuskers of Nebraska (10-5 Overall, 1-4 Big 12) on Sunday, March 6. Nebraska is coming off of their first conference win, a 5-2 victory over Texas Tech.
The Cowgirls will be looking to pick up their tenth win of the year against their conference opponent.
OSU holds a 22-1 all-time series lead against NU. The last time the Cowgirls were defeated by the Cornhuskers was a 6-3 decision in 1998. OSU has won 4 consecutive duels.
The match against the Nebraska is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Cather-Pound Courts in Lincoln, Neb.
