Four Cowgirls Named Academic All-Big 12

A trio of Cowgirls were named to the leagues first team and one was named to the second team.
Leading the way for the Cowgirls was senior Linda Faltynkova. The Uhersky Brod, Czech Republic, native was one of five women who maintained a 4.00 GPA. The secondary education major provided leadership for the Cowgirls both on and off of the court.
Also named to the first team were senior Gorana Marsic and sophomore Ines Furtmayr. Furtmayr and Marsic were able to maintain a GPA above 3.20.
Marsic, an Auckland, New Zealand, native is majoring in art. Although not a regular starter for the Cowgirls, Marsic has provided good depth for the 2003 squad.
Furtmayr, an Uffing, Germany, native is majoring in International Business. Furtmayr has bounced back from a less than stellar freshman year to have a solid campaign at the No. 6 position.
Named to the second team Academic All-Big 12 was junior Katya Kolodynska. The Minsk, Belarus, native is majoring in International Business.
Kolodynska maintained the necessary 3.00 GPA and teamed with Faltynkova at the No. 1 doubles position to lead the Cowgirls to a fourth-place conference finish during the regular season.
The Cowgirls are slated to compete in the conference tournament April 25, in Colombia, Mo.
