2000-2001: Started 30 of OSU's 31 games, averaging 6.9 points and 3.3 rebounds per game ... lone non-start came against North Texas ... led the squad with 93 assists and 44 steals ... logged 903 minutes, good for second on the team ... went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line against Cleveland State ... hit on 73 percent (66-of-91) of her free-throw attempts ... had a team-high nine assists against Eastern Michigan ... posted four steals against both Kansas State and West Virginia ... grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds at Iowa State ... season-best 18 points came against Baylor ... was selected as a member of the 2001 Big 12 squad that competed in Europe over the summer ... the teamwent undefeated, finishing 5-0 ... played in all five games, averaging 7.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game ... shot 58 (14-of-24) from the floor, including 4-of-6 from beyond the three-point arc ... also had eight steals and two blocks ... best performance came in the squad's win over TSU Hagen in the tour finale ... she finished with 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting ... also grabbed three rebounds, dished out two assists and recorded three steals ... was named a first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection.
1999-2000: Shelby started 23 games for the Cowgirls as a freshman, joining Chantoya Hawkins with the most starts since 1992-93 for true freshmen ... had eight double-figure scoring games, including a 22-point performance vs. Baylor on a perfect 9-of-9 shooting night ... over the last 10 games, she averaged 10 points per contest ... regularly guarded the top player on the opposing team with her defensive prowess.
High School: Shelby lettered three years for coaches Kathy Miles and Rhonda Fields at Stillwater High School, and was the team captain her junior and senior seasons ... averaged 17.7 points (the third-best in Class 6A), 6.3 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.6 rebounds per game ... was named all-state, honorable mention All-American by USA Today, and the Frontier Conference Most Valuable Player ... Shelby was a member of the All-State Large East roster as well .. during the summer of 1997, she played for the Oklahoma Storm, and was selected to the Oklahoma National Junior Olympic team ... also lettered in soccer, softball, track and cross country at SHS ... highest finish was a third-place outing in the 200-meter run and the long jump.
Personal: Born Feb. 20, 1981 ... she is the daughter of Chris Hutchens and Lynn Wenig ... has a sister, Hallie (19) and a brother, Troy (16) ... enjoys reading, running and studying ... is majoring in chemical engineering.
