Top-ranked Cowgirls Head To North Carolina

The 54-hole event will be played at the Finley Golf Course, a par 72, 6,181-yard layout. Tee times will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday.
The tournament will feature three top-10 teams and eight top-25 teams in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Collegiate Rankings. OSU is the top-ranked team in the nation, while Duke is ranked fifth and Ohio State is eighth. Other top-25 teams include No. 15 Florida State, 18th-ranked South Florida, No. 23 North Carolina, 24th-ranked Tulane and No. 25 North Carolina State.
Other teams competing are Furman, Kentucky, Memphis, South Carolina, UNC-Greensboro, UNC-Wilmington and Wake Forest.
Individually, four players ranked in the top 15 will be competing, led by Cowgirl freshman Karin Sjödin, who is ranked third, and fellow Cowgirl Annie Thurman, who is ranked seventh nationally. Also competing are eight-ranked Brandi Jackson of Furman and No. 15 Ashley Prange of North Carolina.
Other Cowgirls competing in the tournament are seniors Christi Cano and Linda Wessberg, and sophomore Lisa Jean.
Oklahoma State's top ranking comes after a victory at the TOPY Cup in Japan to open the season and a second-place finish at the NCAA National Preview two weeks ago in West Lafayette, Ind.
