Missouri Rolls Past Cowgirl Basketball, 87-65
April 15, 2003 | Cowgirl Basketball
For the Cowgirls (5-12, 1-5), Trisha Skibbe led the way with 20 points on her way to becoming the 15th player in OSU history to reach the 1,000-point mark. The Oxford, Kan., native entered the contest 19 points shy of becoming the first player to accomplish the feat since Jennifer Crow did it during the 1998-99 and hit the mark with her jumper with 3:48 remaining in the contest.
Two other players, Meghan Craig and Thia Willis, also reached double figures with 12 and 13 points, respectively.
The Tigers (9-7, 3-2) got off to a hot start, hitting nine of their first 10 shots and their first five attempts beyond the three-point arc to build a 24-4 advantage. Mizzou's lead grew to as many as 26 in the half after Evan Unrau converted two of her 20 points with 4:42 left in the stanza for a 43-17 margin.
Kerensa Barr, who became the 22nd player in MU history to reach the 1,000-point plateau in the game, extended the lead to 28 with 14 minutes left before the Cowgirls began to chip away.
OSU whittled the deficit to 17 on a lay-up by Skibbe before Mizzou closed out the contest on an 8-3 run.
The Cowgirls will return to action on Feb. 1 when Nebraska comes to town for a 2 p.m. tilt.
