Cowgirls Set To Take On Oklahoma

Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (5-14 overall, 1-7 Big 12) travels to Norman to take on Oklahoma (13-8, 4-4) in the latest installment of the Bedlam Series on Sunday at 2 p.m. Both squads enter the contest looking to stop losing streaks. The Cowgirls come to town having lost five straight, while the Sooners have dropped three in a row.
ABOUT THE SOONERS
OU enters Sunday's contest with a 4-4 mark at home after dropping its last two at the Lloyd Noble Center and is the first ranked opponent for OSU since playing Texas Tech on Jan. 18. Junior Maria Villarroel leads the way offensively for the Sooners, pouring in 15.5 points per contest while hitting at a 61 percent clip. Sophomore Dionnah Jackson is second on the squad at 12.0 points per outing and has dished out a team-high 96 assists, while senior Theresa Schuknecht is averaging a team-best 6.5 boards per game. OU has played a formidable schedule that includes contests against Tennessee, North Carolina, Connecticut and Stanford in addition to the rugged Big 12 slate. The Sooners hold a 35-34 lead in the all-time series, including seven straight, after sweeping all three contests last season against the Cowgirls. In Norman, the Sooners have won 19 of the 30 meetings between the two squads after defeating the Cowgirls, 65-48, last season. OSU's last road victory in the series came on Feb. 7, 1998, a 76-54 win.
LAST TIME OUT
OSU suffered a 79-55 defeat on Wednesday night, losing to Iowa State before a crowd of 10,548 at Hilton Coliseum. The Cowgirls trailed 42-18 at the intermission before mounting a 23-3 run to open the second half and cut the deficit to four at 45-41, but could get no closer. Freshman Meghan Craig fueled the run, scoring all nine of her points on a trio of three-point buckets. OSU was led offensively by Trisha Skibbe's 14 points. The Oxford, Kan., native also finished with a team-high eight rebounds, while Chantoya Hawkins chipped in with eight points, seven rebounds and six assists.
