Cowgirl Basketball Set to Host Texas Tech

Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (6-17 overall, 2-10 Big 12) will close out its two-game homestand on Saturday with a 7 p.m. contest against Texas Tech (21-3, 9-2). The Cowgirls enter the tilt fresh off a 64-55 win over Baylor, while the Lady Raiders come calling after knocking off Oklahoma, 59-48, in their mid-week battle.
ABOUT THE LADY RAIDERS
Nationally-ranked Texas Tech travels to Stillwater after helping head coach Marsha Sharp to her 500th career victory on Wednesday night. The Lady Raiders are led by senior standout Plenette Pierson, who is averaging team highs in scoring (18.4 ppg) and rebounding (7.5 rpg). Pierson has connected on nearly 52 percent (51.7) of her shots, including 55 a percent clip in conference play. Junior Jia Perkins is also scoring in double figures at 15.9 points per outing, while freshman Erin Grant is tops in the Big 12 with her 7.1 assists per game. Tech owns a 15-11 lead in the all-time series after defeating OSU, 95-45, on Jan. 18 in Lubbock. Last season in Stillwater, OSU snapped an 11-game losing streak in the series by stunning then-No. 16 Lady Raiders with a 58-55 victory. Tari Cummings led the way for OSU with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Trisha Skibbe chipped in with 13 points and six boards. The Cowgirls have won seven of the 12 meetings between the two schools inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.

OSU snapped its eight-game losing streak on Wednesday night, defeating Baylor, 64-55, in Stillwater. Trisha Skibbe led the way for the Cowgirls, recording her sixth double-double of the season with 25 points, 12 rebounds as well as a career-high seven steals. OSU also got quality minutes from reserve guard Deidra Johnson, who chipped in with seven points and five assists, while Chantoya Hawkins finished with nine points and eight boards.
