Cowgirl Basketball Set to Host Nebraska

Oklahoma State's women's basketball team (5-12, 1-5) returns home for a 2 p.m. battle against Nebraska (7-10, 0-6) on Saturday inside Gallagher-Iba Arena. The Cowgirls enter the matchup looking to snap a three-game losing skid, while the Huskers are in search of their first conference win under the direction of head coach Connie Yori.
ABOUT THE HUSKERS
Mired in an eight-game losing streak, Nebraska comes to town after suffering a 67-64 loss at Kansas on Wednesday night. After starting the season 2-2, the Huskers reeled off five consecutive wins before their current string. Offensively, Nebraska is led by junior forward Alexa Johnson, who is currently averaging 15.1 points per game while grabbing 6.9 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Jina Johansen has started all 17 of the squad's games and has dished a team-best 103 assists. In last year's meeting, OSU snuck out of Lincoln with a 72-66 win behind a big offensive performance from Thia Willis. The Cowgirl guard came off the bench to hit seven of her 15 shots, including six three-pointers, to finish with a game-high 22 points. Tari Cummings turned in a double-double for OSU, pouring in 12 points and snaring 10 rebounds to give the Cowgirls their second road win of the season. Nebraska leads the overall series by a 25-23 count, however, OSU has won the last two meetings and is 15-5 against the Huskers in Stillwater.
LAST TIME OUT
Oklahoma State's women's basketball team lost its third consecutive game on Saturday afternoon, falling 87-65 to Missouri in front of 2,017 fans at the Hearnes Center. Trisha Skibbe led the way with 20 points on her way to becoming the 15th player in OSU history to reach the 1,000-point mark. Two other players, Meghan Craig and Thia Willis, also reached double figures with 12 and 13 points, respectively. The Tigers got off to a hot start, hitting nine of their first 10 shots and their first five attempts beyond the three-point arc to build a 24-4 advantage to open the game.
